Fly Fishing and Shooting

Fly Fishing

Generations of HF Bar Ranch guests have made fly fishing for wild trout a central part of their Western experience. They know our 15 mile stretch of Rock Creek as a plentiful source of challenges and of pleasures. Rock Creek Anglers is proud to be a part of this tradition. For many, an outing on Rock Creek evokes fond memories; you might wade into your grandfather’s favorite pool, and find memories of his remarkable talent suddenly being refreshed; or perhaps you recall your daughter’s excited smile after releasing her first rainbow. Of course, you’ll always mark the spot where the legendary “one that got away” really did get away. Truly, the HF Bar Ranch never seems to change. Come with friends and family to practice the art of angling in the way it is meant to be—in fine places, with fine people.

Richard Platt and Justin Casey have over twenty-five years combined experience working with shooters of every skill level.  Their ability to construct an outing, which will have all shooters of the party smiling, is second to none.

On their quest to see you break targets they will cover gun safety, stance, gun mount, sight picture, focal point, break point, and varying shooting methods. Justin and Richard will guide you through our challenging courses providing tips to help you break clays consistently wherever you shoot.

For Beginners, we believe that the cornerstone of any shooting program should be safety.  We specialize in teaching our beginners safe gun handling techniques, which are vital to any who wish to continue a life of sporting quests. No question goes unanswered, no request too great, we want all of our shooters and spectators to leave with an understanding and respect for the safe operation of firearms.

For the more Experienced Shooters, the spectacular topography at the HF Bar has allowed us to construct one of the most dynamic arrays of sporting clay courses in the nation.  Our six different courses and fifty-plus stations will supply even the most proficient shooter with an experience worthy of repetition. Whether you are training for driven hunts in Europe, looking to bag a few quail in Georgia or just want a few more X’s on that scorecard, we can custom build a shooting session to help ensure the success you desire.

You will find that these experienced instructors share their craft with you in a safe manner based on technique and solid fundamentals with your enjoyment as the primary objective.

In the Autumn, we offer the chance to hunt released pheasants, chukars, and wild hungarian partridges with bird hunting guide, Richard Platt and his loyal sidekick, Jack. These hunts are by reservation only and must be arranged in advance. Call Richard Platt at 307-684-2487 to discuss your options and availability.
